CEO & President

From 2009 to 2016, Rob Tasker has been the President and CEO of TRTech, a not-for-profit technology commercialization company whose mission is to grow industry through information and communication technology (ICT) innovation. Part of the TRTech business plan was the formation and incubation of TransRail Innovation Inc. (TRIG), and in 2016, Rob assumed the role of President and CEO.
Rob is a passionate and visionary senior leader with a strong track record of building successful businesses and transforming organizations. Prior to TRTech, Rob worked for over 10 years at TELUS Communications Inc. in several Vice President and Senior Vice President roles. Prior to TELUS, he also worked for Bell Canada, Nortel, and Stentor.
Rob graduated from the University of Waterloo in Electrical Engineering in 1986, and with an MBA from York University in 1993.

Peter Stunden

Peter Stunden

Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Peter Stunden leads all aspects of the company’s business development efforts, forging relationships with customers and channel partners. He also heads the company’s marketing including strategy, messaging, brand development, digital marketing, website messaging, and social media strategy. Stunden has more than 35 years of experience in the technology industry with companies ranging from the co-founder of start-up Fifth Era Knowledge, to leading global enterprises including Digital Equipment Corp., Verisign, and inCode Wireless.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Francis Xavier University.

Chris Stobart

Chris Stobart

Vice President, Engineering

Since 2006, Chris Stobart has been in the product research and development industry. His exposure to numerous product designs and multiple disciplines has given him proficiencies in a multitude of areas focused on product research and development. Chris has had exposure to industries such as agriculture, oil & gas, medical, sensors & instrumentation, and consumer electronics while performing multiple functions in the product design process. A few of these functions include architecture design, management, research & development, RF design, testing, industrial design, low level design (i.e. electronic & mechanical CAD), manufacturing, and regulatory requirements. This well rounded experience has fostered a systematic approach to product design and the R&D skills required to remain in a competitive environment. Furthermore, his experience with regulatory bodies such as FCC, IC, CSA, and UL enables him to strike a balance with stringent regulatory requirements and practical design considerations. Lastly, he holds a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering Technology and a M.Sc. in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering which further corroborates his interdisciplinary and R&D experience.

Alison Balfour

Client Service Manager

At TRIG, Alison is the connective tissue between engineering and sales / marketing. She is an individual that is passionate about achievement, teamwork and innovation. She holds two Bachelor Degrees from Brandon University, graduating with greatest distinction. Alison maintains a broad repertoire within technology, which includes (and is always expanding) IIoT Technology, Software as a Service, Automation as a Service, PC/Mac computers, Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Smart Technology, etc.
Alison is a manager that has an eye for detail, creates open lines of communication and maintains a high level of professionalism with all colleagues. She is efficient and organized and strives to complete all tasks to the highest standards of care.

Karyn Szilagyi

Executive Assistant & Office Manager

Karyn is the Executive Assistant and Office Manager for TransRail Innovation Inc. o/a TransRail Innovation Group (TRIG). Additionally, she holds the role of Corporate Secretary on the TRIG Board of Directors. Karyn’s extensive career in administration, office management, finance, customer service, and executive assistance is providing TRIG with a solid foundation in these very areas. You will be dealing with Karyn if you have AP/AR questions or are in need of TRIG information and customer service. When not in the office Karyn is likely providing executive assistance to her family or traveling.

Kent Duncan

Quality Assurance

Kent is a computer science graduate from the University of Calgary. He completed an internship at TRTech developing Python-based scripts for data analytics before moving on to work with front-end user experience platforms with Splice Networks in Calgary. Kent has experience developing web applications for data analytics, database designs and user-interfaces using javascript, jQuery, .JSON, Python, MySQL and more. He has also recently volunteered at a local HTML500 event; mentoring participants in web development. He is a great team player and brings critical problem solving skills to the team. Kent has also developed and implemented the M1003 quality assurance program with TransRail Innovation.

Jeff Clugston

Jeff Clugston

Senior Engineer

Jeff Clugston is a professional engineer with over 15 years of experience as an embedded firmware engineer. Jeff has a broad depth of expertise in engineering electronics design and development of systems, including oilfield electronics, locomotive control systems, and consumer electronics. Previously employed with a global supplier of products and services for locomotives, Jeff was the senior project designer for locomotive telemetry, data logging and control systems and has successfully contributed his software, firmware and hardware expertise to numerous other projects, including data acquisition and real time processing products, GPS tracking and surveying, control system electronics, oilfield instrumentation, and windows based GUI applications. Jeff holds a B.Sc. in electrical engineering and is a member of APEGA

Ramiz Gelada

Hardware Engineer

Ramiz has a strong belief that entrepreneurship and innovation should go together! Ramiz is TRIG’s Hardware Engineer. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology and a Master’s Degree in electrical engineering from Dalhousie University. He is an active Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) member with the Association of Professional Engineer and Geoscientist of Alberta (APEGA) and Engineers Nova Scotia. Ramiz is an energetic individual and innovator who likes the challenge of technology uncertainties, design and innovation with the designing of electronic boards and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) modules that can be applied in various industries. His exposure to a start-up firm in electronic hardware industry and biomedical engineering field has given him a broad depth of expertise about electronic hardware boards, electronic schematics, human physiology and blueprints for medical and non-medical devices.
